Results

The model produced the completeness percentage for each road segment of the study area. Figure 1 below displays the results.

Figure 1 Complete Streets Study Area Final Completeness Percentage

As it can be seen from Figure 1, much of the study area is between 50% and 75% complete with a few areas above 75% and a few below 50%. To the far west of the study area, in the rural typology, most of road segments are below 50% with one below 25% complete. It can be concluded that the rural sections of the study area need much improvement to be fully complete. For example, to view what attributes the road segment below 25% complete is missing, the attribute information was brought up. Figure 2 displays this information.

Figure 2 Missing Attributes from Road Segment

As it can be seen from Figure 2, this particular road segment is missing every attribute except for street lighting. The street lighting attribute is worth 20% for the rural areas and therefore this road segment got a score of only 20% complete.

Future Model Applications

This tool can be used for municipalities to identify areas in need of infrastructure improvements. The missing attributes from these incomplete areas can be highlighted and the city can focus its efforts on building them. The model can also be customized to include any attributes and weighting structure a municipality might feel necessary to include in their definition of completeness.
